Lamictal

by glorya90, Apr 27, 2002 12:00AM
I am taking 300mg of effexor and 200mg of Lamictal at morning, and 250mg of Lamictal at night.  I have been having nightmares and night twiching and night sweats. It seems like it happens more when I miss a dose of effexor.  It happens every time I miss a dose of effexor but sometimes, infrequently, when I don't.  What could be causing this?  I understand that this does not commonly happen due to effexor but I am sure that it is related.  I'm taking the Lamictal due to depression and an abnormal eeg.  I have a history of seizures but havn't had any since I was a baby. I'm a 26 year old female now.  I also have symptoms of add without hyperactivity.  Especially forgetfulness.

Effexor is well known to cause sweating, sleep disorders (such as insomnia) and anxiety. Of note, it can also cause seizures. Another possibility however is that your blood counts could be abnormal due to the Lamictal which can produce some of your symptoms. Talk to your doctor about these symptoms. It may be helpful to get a routine CBC or blood count just to make sure everything is ok. Otherwise, consider adjusting the dose of effexor or switching to another medication that doesn;t have the potential to cause seizures given your past medical history. GOod luck.
