Left Side Numbness & Pain

Ever since I had my son 4 years ago I have had problems with numbness in my upperback,  left arm/shoulder and heart palpitations. I had preterm labor and was placed on many different meds to stop it and then had many problems with my epidural during birth.  None of that has gone away. I have been to cardiologist for the heart - placed on meds, taken off meds, etc. Seen a Chiro for the back, didnt help. Also placed on different anti-inflammatory meds. None helped. Lately the numbness travels up to my head.  All this week I have had major headaches (which i get frequently) and bad jaw pain (I have TMJ)  but starting thursday i have been having back pain. Today I have been having horrible shooting pains in my left shoulder, upper back, left arm pain and numbness in my left leg/foot.  My Chiro told me awhile back that I have a pinched nerve. What other treatments are there? Does it ever go away on it own?  I will obviously be calling my doctor monday (or sooner) if not better.

Hi, Thank you for your question. I doubt that some spinal nerves may be compressing in spine by disc prolapse & degeneration or stenosis. By the reason of that nerves from the spinal cord can be irritated causing weakness in the leg, leg/thigh pain and numbness, tingling. Few persons also face generalized body weakness and numbness due to other nerve irritation on back. If he suffers continuous weakness and notice reduced strength of muscle bulk in both the legs, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here. These “red flags” could be indicative of compression of the spinal cord and its nerve branches and early treatment is essential if permanent damage needs to be avoided. Further referral to a physiotherapist for spinal exercises could be beneficial and may produce relief of symptoms. Hope this helps.
