Left Sided Head Pain During Climax

by gigi's, Jun 29, 2007 12:00AM
My 51 yr old husband has experienced left sided head(throbbing) pain during climax.  This started within the last month.  At first it happened, then didn't happen again for a couple of weeks, now it is happening every time.  The pain is in the center, left side top of his head.  He say's it's like brain freeze times 10.  It lasts for approx. 10 minutes, startes out severe and as he relaxes, it slowly goes away.  He is in good health.  We went to his family doctor who ordered an immediate MRI of the head to rule out aneurysm and the MRI results came back normal and is now ordering blood work.  My husband wants to wait a couple of weeks to have this blood work performed, but I'm concerned that he is waiting too long.  I shared this event with a trusted family member of mine and she stated she had a similar experience 10 yrs ago and it turned out that she had a blockage in the abdominal aortic artery (which is why her MRI of the head was normal) and within 3 days was having abdominal bypass surgery.  I would rather find out now what the problem is, than wait until he collapses and has less of a chance of full recovery.  Can you tell me if this is a symptom of something serious, that requires immediate attention?
Thank you!
Gigi

I have had those symptoms on and off for 2 years. The Dr. put me on BP medication and had to increase the dosage last year, it helped for a few months and now they are back (with coitus, anxiety and heavy lifting). He didn't mention anything about abdominal aortic artery as a potential problem. I will call and ask him about that. How old are you? I am a 49 y/o female. What tests have you had done?
