Left Sided Weakness - Symptoms No One Can Figure Out

Left Sided Weakness - Symptoms No One Can Figure Out

36 year old male, from New England Currently living in Los Angeles who has been sick on and off for 5 years.
2005 on a airplane a sunburn like feeling came down the side of my left face and i was instantly dizzy, radiating heat, felt like i was cut down the middle of my head and only the left side was affected. after landing this burning spread down my neck into my shoulder and arm. the burning stopped but turned into left sided weakness, jaw, neck, swallowing, left eye and face felt heavy, arm and leg, shoulder was like jello muscle twitches all over my body.
2006 doctors seen: Neuro, infectious disease, endocrinologist, GP, Lyme Doctor
tests: MRI w/contrast, 2 EMG's (6 months apart), extensive blood testing all negative except HGE Human granulocytic ehrlichiosis and low test testosterone. Was treated for two years for Lyme Disease. (not convinced it was Lyme)
Symptoms seemed to resolve Oct 2006
April 2007 - all symptoms came back, all left sided weakness again, chalked it up to lyme disease even though no positive test for Lyme.
October 2007 - Septemeber 2011 - I didn't have any weakness of bad symptoms just some swallowing issues but I got used to them so no big deal.
October 2011 – present Symptoms came back just like back just like the first time, started with burning in the head and face and turned into weakness all on the left side again. I am struggling right now and it is affecting my job.
Most currently tests 3T MRI brain normal, pituitary normal, CT scan of brain showed swelling in left rear side of brain (I did not bump my head). EMG test done by neuro which came out clean. Being treating for low testosterone and am currently taking vicodin for pressure pain. Neck is very weak, left side of jaw, shoulder, swallowing weak face muscles are soar, twitching all over my body again, right eye lid twitches like crazy. I need to know what this can be and what tests I should try and get next to figure out what is wrong with me. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hey Luke,
Have you had an MRA to check for arterial damage or stenosis?
The swelling in the left side of the brain is not pertinent to your left side issues, as the right side of the brain controls the left side of your body.
You should pursue the HGE as it may be a low grade infectious condition, coexisting with other infections-do not write off Lyme yet- that are notoriously evasive and escape detection from most tests.
Did you deal with IGENEX for your Lyme Test and did you get a complete
Pathogenic Infection Panel?
These types of infections can lay dormant for a while, gradually depleting your cells from energy as they use sterols from the cells membrane, and at
a time of weakness and imbalance get activated and can cause havoc in your body. This explains the big time gaps in the expression of your symptoms.
Go to immed.org for more info. Dr. Garth Nicolson there is the top expert in
this field-treatment and research.
Hope this helps.
Take care

Also forgot to mention that I have muscle wasting on my left side sternomastoid muscle and in my calf muscle on the left side. Probably not a good sign.

I am not writing off Lyme and other co-infections but it seems very unlikely that this was ever my true problem although I wish it was.

Well Luke,
Has any of your doctors suggested to you that you may have
Neuralgic Amyotrophy? You should look into this. The Dutch  seem to have
a stronghold in this field of research, as this condition has affected a
significant number of people in the Netherlands.
You can search umcn.nl. This University Medical Centre is one of the finest in the world! Their Neurology Dept. is impressive to say the least.
Translate the page into English and under Health go to Syndromes and then to the right from the alphabet choose "N" and a list will open.
Choose "Neuralgische Amyotrofie" from the list, translate into English again and check it out!
Hope you find some answers.
Take care,
Niko
