I had doubleDouble-tussin dm in inguinal hernia operation Jan of 08. Since then I have been having pain in my scrotum. The cord that hold my left testi starts hurting them sweels up. It is getting worse. What is going on?
Your inguinal pain could be neuralgic, due to the pressure on the nerves caused by the scar.
You should urgently consult your surgeon with your problem for a proper management of the condition to avoid any complications later on.
Options for neuralgic pain at present are antineuralgic medications, infiltration with local anaesthetic agents and alcohol injection. Sometimes the patient may require a surgical exploration and releasing of spermatic cord.
Severe and chronic testicular pain following inguinal hernia surgery may be due to causes like ischemic orchitis ( injury to the blood supply of the testicle leading to pain in swelling in the testicle), chronic nerve injury leading to chronic pain in the groin, scrotum or leg or perhaps formation of a hematoma ( collection of blood in the remaining hernia sac) .
