Hello..this is too weird.  I am the same age and having similar problems.  I too am on cholesterol medication, however have been for years. I don’t think it is due to my medication due to recently having the problems since late 2005.  I have been on that medication since mid 2003.  My only difference is that my jaw, along with the entire right side of the face is also affected.  I have been to six specialists (just since Nov of 2005) and only one has noted that they believe it is Trigeminal Neuralgia.  The only issue is that although I am on medication for this, I am still having the symptoms.  As time passes, it is causing not only severe pain in my right shoulder but all the down the right side the end of my rib cage. I am still in the process of trying to find out what is the cause.  Have you by any chance also noticed any other symptoms?  The only other thing that has been noted is a daily low grade fever and also a high blood sediment rate, which I have been told is due to internal swelling.  My jaw is the shoulder is the most painful with minor to major swelling from time to time in that area. Sometimes a heat pad helps alleviate the pain.  It appears to be brought on by spending too much time in front of the computer or working out, where there much arm movement or strain.

We all have different opinions so the forums allow you give
thought with input. My opinion, at your young age, must be reason Dr put you on BP/Chol. meds. Satins aren't for everyone
but w/o, some may get 'plaque build-up' in arteries. If BP has
a diuretic added in it, it helps even more to keep things open
& flowing. Don't stop w/o consult. Could cause more problems.
I think Canada has NH-care? If so, need to possibly get in to
a GP or? again, & get a Cervical spine MRI to look for some
disk problem. C5 to C6 disks send msgs to nerves at shoulder.
These can be off alignement & your posture at job is daily using
compression on these. Inflammation in neck/rounded shoulder can
give symptoms you describe. Diet/weight play a big part, so you
might ck tourself out in the mirror. Many take statins short time to get faster results & then diet/walking more can cut
them down. I've been to Calgary. Beautiful drive & ended trip
at Lake Louise. Best trout ever had! Also, trout lowers Chol #.
If muscle pain is extending dwn to upper mid-back/shldr-blade,
it can be very painful. I have a disk bulge at same spot & after
PT, I do gd. since I limit computer use to 2 hrs day & also
have a hm-traction unit when I screw up. Icepak off/on can
help during day. Sleeping w/ flatter pillow won't curve neck.
Your BP meds are helping vascular flow needed to help muscles.
Maybe raise computer up w/ ph-bks or? What a diferrence it made!

Hi....I read your post and became alarmed when you said you were on cholesterol medication.  Statin drugs cause all sorts of muscular problems.   My mother and father were both on cholesterol medication and began to have muscular problems, chest pain, leg pain, etc.   They went through all sorts of tests.   When they stopped taking the medication, all of their symptoms disappeared.  So, if I were you, I would stop the cholesterol medication for awhile and see what happens.  People ahve lived millions of years withoug statin drugs and I refuse to take them. Sometimes, the cure really is worse than the disease.
