Left-sided headache, right sided twitching

by RPage, Jun 09, 2007 12:00AM
I am 22yr female in good shape, healthy lifestyle. Approx 2 months ago, began experiencing sudden and extreme fatigue, associated headaches behind eyes, photophobia associated with headaches, and progressive twitching in right hand  and, less notably, right foot (twitching was progressive in both frequency and severity). The extreme fatigue dissipated 1.5 weeks ago, but the headaches and twitches continued to progress. (Note: I have no history of headaches, both parents do have history of migraines.) Last night at approx 9pm I started having a pretty bad headache. I  took 800mg Ibuprofen, then watched a 1.5 hour movie. 10 minutes after the movie, my headache progressed into what was by far the worst headache of my life. The focus of the pain was behind my left eye, and at three distinct times over the next 2 hours I felt a strong burning sensation in my head that had me crying in pain. The focus of the pain was sill behind my left eye, and my right leg began convulsing uncontrollably at random intervals after the onset of the pain after the movie. The severe pain lasted 2 hours, and the headache was almost completely gone 5 hours after the onset of the worst symptoms.
An MRI of the brain (without contrast) showed up clean, as did a CT scan. No spinal tap was done. No infection was found through bloodwork (CVC with diff and such).
The only conclusion that was tentatively drawn was that I suffered my first atypical migraine, but that I should consider having an MRA as a precautionary measure.
I still have a very mild but constant burning sensation in my head that seems to be relieved a bit by light activity. Any ideas on how to continue investigation?
