Levaquin ALLERGIC REACTION Following Medication

by Heidi__0__0, Jun 29, 1998 12:00AM

Any Clinical Trial Information Available on LEVAQUIN Allergic Reacations.
I was prescribed Levaquin for a Sinus Infection.  I took the full dose for ten days.  Several days later I had a massive Severe Skin reaction.  To date I am four weeks into the reaction with no improvement.  My Dermatologist prescribed Medrol, Allegra, and Creams, the first round of medications didn't do a thing.  He prescribed a second round that did nothing.  He recently
attempted an injection of strong Medrol and prescribed Allegra with no results.  The skin rash is severe, with a severe burning sensation to the skin, the skin is hot to the touch, and looks like it's covered in oil, there are acne like bumps and smaller bumps that seem to become aggravated by any exposure to heat or humidity.  I was curious if any clinical trials have reported severe skin reactions following a full prescription to levaquin, and what the shelf life of this antibiotic is in the body.  Next week will begin my fifth week with this reaction.  I have read in the PDR that severe skin reactions occur right away when taking this drug, but never heard of such a reaction happening following the full prescription.  To date no treatment has helped.  I was curious if this will eventually work it's way out of the system and if so what is within the normal range for such a drug to get out of the system.  Any information you can provide is greatly appreciated.
I'd also be curious if medrol and allegra are supposed to aid in an allergic reaction to Levaquin, as none of the treatment I have received has altered the allergic reaction.  Any information you can provide on this drug or this type of allergic reaction will be greatly appreciated.
