Looking for an explaination

  Hello,
    I am trying to clarify a few things.  I have been diagnosed with spinal stenosis.  Leg pain, back pain, ect.  
    My question is A Doctor told me I was born with this condition.
  I only saw him for 45 minuates.
    I am 50 years old.  I have never had a back problem in my life untill,
  getting in my patroll car something went click, this was shortly after a fight I had with an inmate in jail.  Is it really possible I was born with this?  I just can't grasp that theory.

Thanks for your question.  Without having access to all the medical information
available to your physician it is difficult to know how he arrived at the
diagnosis.  Was there any imaging studies (CT scans, MRI scans) done for
your spine?  Because of the relatively acute, clearcut onset time of your
symptoms, one should be concerned about a more acute process.  As a matter
of fact, given the cimcumstances how it occurred, it is possible a vertebral
disc damage might have occurred.  If your symptoms persist or if they worsen
you should definitely be re-evaluated, possibly with the addition of an
imaging study.
