Loss of muscle on left side

by Fsocal4, Aug 28, 2009 11:59AM
I have been having disk hernation problems with my C6 C7.  I have notice that I have lost strength in the left part of my chest and arm.  Could the loss of strength be related to my  disk problem.  How should I pursue the correction of the problem.

Hi,
The disk herniation problem could very well be the cause of muscle weakness. Disk herniation leads to the compression of spinal nerves. This leads to weakness of the muscle related to the particular nerve that is being compressed.  Thus the symptoms of loss of strength in a particular muscle are experienced. The correction of the disk herniation may lead to the relief from muscle weakness. Please consult the neurologist for the treatment plan. Surgery and physiotherapy may correct the problem. Hope this helps you. Take care and regards!
