Low Grade Fever and Twitching/Jerking

Hello- I'm a concerned mother of a 3 year old that is having some trouble. It started about 1 year ago with monthly high fevers of 102 - almost 105. This was occasionally accompanied by a virus but not every time (additional symptoms not present). We had an episode of a very high fever for several days followed by recurring febrile seizures. Since then, he's had a low grade fever (between 99.5-101) weekly. It lasts about 2 days and goes away.  It's really strange, he either seems to have unusual bursts of energy with his fever or fatigue- there is no happy medium. I've also witnessed several episodes of repetitive jerking movements- for instance, he will jerk his head to the side 6-7 times then go on like nothing happened. He can't offer an explanation for what he's doing- which isn't usual from our vocal child. We've been to several pediatric doctors, the local children's hospital, and we've been told he's just "unlucky".  We are going to see a chiropractor this week and hope to find an answer. If anyone can shed some light on this unusual behavior it would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you!

well, there is some relation to what my niece is going through to a certain point. My suggestion is take your child to a neurologist.

Hi.

I'm not sure a chiropractor can help you much but it is still may be worth the try.  The symptoms that you are describing are really non-specific and non-conclusive of anything and I understand why his doctors are unable to see or find anything.

Other possible conditions that I can think of would include autoimmune diseases, hematologic problems, lymphomas, or chronic infections.  However, it is really very hard to prove any of these or even suspect them since the symptoms are really not specific.  Still I suggest you discuss some of these possibilities with his doctors and hopefully get to the bottom of things.

Regards.
