Low Grade Glimos

Low Grade Glimos

Hi

I am from Lahore (Aged 33).

I have only following two symptoms

Episodic blurring of vision from last 4 to 6 years or may be more (time duration is 5 sec. to 15 sec.)
I got this problem may be one or two times after every three month to six months or more. During this I can walk, talk & remember all my & other's words as well (I have done my first MRI (on 13-01-2010, only due to this symptom)

I also have headache from last 23 years at right side only. but this is rare.

One more thing that I well remembered that at the age between 11 years to 14 years. There was a pain behind right side(head) & that has happened very frequently between this age but after that age very rare.

There are no new symptoms & no increase in the above mentioned symptoms.

My second MRI (dated: 24-05-2010) shows the following result ,

"Since previous study performed on 13-01-2010, there is redemonstraion of the right parietocccipital signal abnormality with mild mass effet & involvement of the posterior corpus callosum. Still, there is no post contrast enhancement. The MRI spectroscopy was redemonstrated classical spectrum of glial cell tumor. However, the appearances are quite stable from prior examination. I do not see any worsening or improvement in this interval. The Rest of the brain anatomy appears quite unremarkable"

"Conclusion: In sammary, stable appearances since previous study "

What I will do? Wait or go for treatment.

Hi, Thank you for your question. Low grade tumor like glioma may remain asymptomatic for long years. But if it is large it can cause headache, poor attention span, visual disturbance, paralysis, seizures and gait disorders. Therefore, surgical intervention is essential to remove and if permanent damage needs to be avoided. Radiation therapy, chemotherapy and cerebral shunts are common surgical treatment that may help.  Please consult a neurologist right away in this regard. Hope this helps.
