Lower Back Chronic Pain

  : Hi,
: I have a lower back problem. I fell about 6 years ago and I have has 2 operations.  I have chronic lower back pain that radiates down the leg below my knee all the way to my toes, I also have lost some sensation throughout my legs, when I had my last operation the Doctor removed a disk between L4 and L5 he did not do a fusion, but since the last operation I have even more pain, I have not been able to have a full nights sleep ever since if lucky I get 1 to 2 hours a night.  I had herniated 3 disks in total, I get headaches every day a migrane (migraine) at least once a week, the back pain never goes away, the medications that I am on and take every day are, Neurontine-300mg, Oxycontin-10mg, Trazodine-100mg, Baclofe-10mg, Vicodine-5/750, and Fiorinal/Codine this is a lot of medication they had also given me Morphine but that was to strong for me to take, but all this medication does not help they maybe take 5% of the pain away thats all, I also had a nerve block and it did not help me except for making the pain even more, he wants to try to do another nerve block burning the nerve but I'm very worried what if this does not work either, I am a 38 year old woman with 3 kids and with no life cause I can't do anything, the pain is just to much, I try to hold it as much as I can, don't know what else to do can you please help me, can you tell me something else that I mite be able to try, I am very desperate, will try anything
Hi, I am one who suffers like you do.   I had fusions done from L-1 to S-1
and I am in lots of pain a LOT of the time.   My Dr's don't seem to kno what REAL PAIN is.   It can become a very, depressing time in you life.  I broke my back in 1981 and had to fo through 12 hours of major reconstructive surgery in 1994.   Seems my Dr only beleives in Tylenol #3
and lots of ice.   I have a lot of back spasms but they usually can be controlled with SOMA.   The other night, however, they were so bad I had to go to the emergency room to get a shot of valium in my butt to knock out the spasms......I have found an old recipe which helps out some on a day to day basis tho.........take a quart jar and fill it with white raisins.  Then fill the jar with GIN.   Let it soak for 10 days.   Then take about 8 raisins a day.   Must be the alcohol or something in the raisin, but it won't get you tipsy.   But it can help the pain.   I know it sounds stupid, but give it a try.    I would like to talk with you very much again as I feel I am in the same situation as myself.   Please email me at:

I'll be more than glad to share any information I can give you.   Best of luck to you with the pain you have and just remember, someone out there knows what you are going though..........
One other tidbit of advice.........have and use a hell of a sense of humor to get you through it..........   Smiles always........
