The question is being answered today as I have sought some advice from one of my colleagues experienced in this issue
The symptoms you describe are not typical for lumbo-atrial
shuntCyanotic heart disease
Transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt (tips) malfunction. I would expect more evidence for
hydrocephalusHydrocephalus (build up of fluid on the brain) such as headache, meningeal signs (such as
neckCervical spondylosis
Head and neck glands
Herpes zoster (shingles) on the neck and cheek
Irritated seborrheic kerotosis - neck
Lymph tissue in the head and neck.
Melanoma - neck
Neck lump
Neck pain
Neck pulse
Neck x-ray
Oral cancer stiffness or irritation, or decreased reponsiveness. The
atrialAtrial fibrillation/flutter
Atrial myxoma
Left atrial myxoma
Right atrial myxoma portion of the shunt is more likely to cause a cardiac arrythmia if anything also
therefore the symptoms may not be related to the shunt at all, and may be a chest problem ie infection, although I cannot completely ruleout a shunt problem on this site. YOu should seek medical attention for this - don't be afraid to call your doctors about any concerns you might have
