Lyme disease to central nervous system

by BabsC, Oct 08, 2007 12:24PM
I was diagonosed with lyme in 1/07 and treated with 2 courses of oral doxyclyine. During this time I continued to detortiate. I have had cognitive changes (speech, thinking, numbers, finding the correct word), had trouble wtih walking, balance, hearing, and hearing, nausea, numbness, vision problems, perception problems, back pain, joint pain, headaches, weakness, slept all the time,,etc. Was diag with lyme that went to CNS and was treated with rocephan IV for 28 days. There was a lot of improvement after the IV antibiotic. Currently I still have cognitive problems, balance, vision problems. Sometimes I seem better and then I feel that things are getting worse.
I'm looking for info from other people that went through this. I'd like to give my nervouse system the best opportunity to heal and am looking for suggestions. Thanks.BabsC

I have been having all of the symptoms you listed above.
I was diagnosed with Lymes and took doxycycline for 6 weeks.  During this time none of my syptoms (symptoms) got better.  I went to the Infectious disease and she said yes, I probably had Lymes but after 6 weeks it shoudl be gone---re-tested me and it was.
I was on phenegran for the nausea of the doxy----I stayed on that and now am on meclizine.  Nothing has changed I still am dizzy, naueaus, tinlging, numbness, headaches, blurred vision,balance---no cognitive yet.  I went to a cardiologists and had all the test done my heart is fine. I went to a neurologist and had an EEG and MRI to be sure it wasn't MS (I have all these symptoms) my brain showed no lesions.  I went to an ENT and he said I had vertigo the "symptom" not the disease and sent me to a Rheumotologist who thought I had thoracic outlet syndrome ans sent me to physical therapy.  ALL my symtoms made sense to the therapist and without me telling him he ask if I had Lymes---I said I did---he said it is probably gone but, it attacked my central nervous system.  As he worked on me he would ask me where things hurt and he figured out nerves that were effected and said we will re-build me.  I am going 2 times a week for 12 weeks and am amazed how the work makes sense.   THE ENTIRE puzzle that confused everyone was pieced together by him form the symptoms above to my bowels, weight gain etc.  This has been an amzing moment and I encourage you to get a doctors order for this therapy.  Heather4036
