I called the police non emergency line and asked them if they could have officers drive by but I live in a really large city and they do not consider it an emergency to do any patrolling. The dispatcher told me that I could file a report for vandalism but that's really up to the property manager/owners to do that. I requested the extra patrol because as a concerned citizen, it was my obligation to do that. We have security for the complex and in light of those firecrackers being so numerous and close to the building, I really hope that they contacted them to do more security over here.
Tonight it's been quiet so far, it's only 12:20 am and there are many hours between now and morning. I'm a little concerned that since they might be thinking if we go back at the same time that we'll get caught that they might try for a later time to pull the shenanigans again. I won't sleep very sound tonight, this I know ...I got over a half bucket full of the firecrackers and there were still some left that I couldn't pick up. I have the phone numbers for security and the PD (who are "so" concerned). I'll not hesitate to call them if I hear something amiss outside tonight.

Good Grief! Have you reported this to the police? A few firecrackers is one thing, but that sounds over the top! Maybe PG & E could post a guard until after the 4th, if you called them...Good luck, and stay safe. NOT suppossed to be sweeping Nani! Behave yourself! I took a 3 hr nap, (with phone interuptions, doors ringing, etc.) this aft, so now am awake at 11:30! oh well, can sleep in for a few more days. If dr releases me on Tues, back to work on Thurs.Anxious to see how that goes........
Okay, this was just downright scary!!!! I went outside to investigate and see where the firecrackers went off. I was flabbergasted to see red wrapping paper floating and blowing all over the place. I followed the paper from where it was blowing the most and discovered that there were thousands of spent firecrackers laying in the grass and that they had been laid out in a line that way, stretching across the driveway and onto each side of the driveway. Then upon further investigation I found there were hundreds more laying up against the building along with more paper, and then to my shock and amazement found that there were hundreds, maybe over a thousand laying inside some equipment that belongs to the PG&E electric and gas company in our state. They had shoved some down inside this equipment and lit some on the outside. It's a miracle that this didn't blow up and cause a massive destruction of the building next to my building. It would've been a major blaze. When I went down the street, I saw the damage to the street where the fire was from the night before, (a HUGE box of fireworks were lit and burned) I cleaned up not only that mess but all the thousands of firecrackers that laid on the ground. I left some for evidence that the managers can deal with but I cleaned up a lot and I'll pour it in the garbage bag, I used a bucket that sits by our new bbq grills to put the firecrackers in. I swept them into piles in order to get as much as I could cleaned up. The fire department determined that they could not be relit but I didn't want to take any chances because some still had powder in them and were fairly long for being spent.
What scares me the most is that I went outside a half hour before all of it started and I didn't see anyone, this was laid out and planned by someone. My neighbor said that he heard them too and that he had gone outside 15 minutes earlier and saw some kids sitting in the grass further down the street. Whether it was them or not is hard to say.
I'll be using my Tens Unit more today because of sweeping and bending over, my neck feels really tight right now.
My physical therapy doesn't start again until the 9th of July. I'm going to a different facility as instructed and so they said that because of the holiday, their week is crazy and they wouldn't see any new patients next week. I'm still a bit angry about having to get a referral to the neurologist to be treated for the migraines when they're already seeing me for my neck, it doesn't make sense. I have to ask the doctor who is my PCP for the referral, he's the one that I do not want treating my migraines.
Try to take it easy now that you're on your own again. I know it must have been hard to say goodbye to your daughter and to know that you're on your own again. I was so scared to come home that I lashed out at the physical therapists who came to my room the morning I found out I was going home instead of rehab for my knee. I refused physical therapy on that day too and when she started talking to me about it, I asked her to leave. I was just so angry, the incision was the same, the fact that they didn't do as much inside my knee surgically didn't feel like they did, it felt the same as the first time they operated and the pain was just as great. You really have to be careful and just not lift anything ...you don't want to undo the surgery. Good Luck to you and if it feels like you're back to work too early, ask if you can do half days for a little while or something, don't overdo it at work either. You might end up going home really fatigued and in a whole lot of pain if you overdo, but you know this.
Take Care,
NaniKai
Happy Fourth to you too!! :)
We had an early Fourth of July over here, some idiots drove down my street, lit off (not firecrackers), (those were earlier by my bedroom window) pyrotechnic type of fireworks, the kind that shoot up in the sky. They weren't bottle rockets but the illegal pyrotechnics that people shoot off for crowds. They drove off and the fireworks started a large fire and the fire crews had to be called out. The asst. manager said she saw them from her balcony and thought they were pretty until she saw the plume of smoke and flames and called the fire department. I don't know if any damage was done but the fire was brought under control and the city PD and fire department will be patroling tonight. I heard this wooshing sound earlier lastnight (before the fire) and it was a bunch of ground bloom flowers all tied together and lit off and then some firecrackers were tossed up by my bedroom window. Thank God my building is stucco so it didn't catch fire! The pine needles on my roof make me weary but they had maintenance up there this past week blowing them off and a bunch landed inside my patio, I was out raking and sweeping them out so that I didn't go up like a tenderbox. I have two big pine trees right by my place and a third in the front so there are tons of pine needles dropping. We didn't get a lot of rain this past winter.
So glad the Tens is working for you. Did you do PT this week? My surgery seems to have been successful, I return to the dr on Tues for first X-ray since surgery, and if all is well, go back to work on Thurs. I have quit smoking because it retards healing in general, and the fusion particularly, but sure miss it. Had to put my daughter back on plane to Floriday this morning, so am now on my own. Will have to be really careful about lifting heavy stuff, etc. Glad to hear you're feeling so much better. Great to avoid surgery if you can! Happy 4th of July!
