MRI Findings... Need help understanding

I have had back and neck problems for at least 8 years. I finally had an MRI last week. The finding state that everything is okay in my neck except "Osseous hemangioma is noted in the left lateral aspect of C6." What does that mean? My nurse practitioner didn't really know. All she could tell me is that it is some sort of "growth." I am currently waiting for a neurologist to call me to get me scheduled to come in for a visit. Can someone shed some light on my MRI for me in the meantime? Thank you.
