This can happen with high blood pressure, someone who suffers migraines, and with aging.   Plaque can build up in the little blood vessels in your head, clogging them up and causing ischemia- which is a lack of oxygenation to tissues that happens because of the clogging.  The fact it is chronic means it has been going on long term in your brain.  

You will want to make sure your blood pressure is not too high, your lipid panel (blood testing) comes back normal and if you suffer migraines, hopefully you can find a preventative to take daily with your neurologist to keep them to a minimum in order to try to keep your risk of TIA (transient ischemic attack or mini-stroke) and full blown stroke to a minimum.

Hi, Thank you for your question. In microvesicular ischemic disease of brain, pathology is associated with the brain white matter, either exclusively or in combination with grey matter changes. It occurs due to metabolism errors, exogenous toxins released by virus, autoimmune disease, leukodystrophy, demyelination, and radiation effects. Headache, spasticity, muscle weakness, paralysis, hyper-reflexia and movement disorder may be the clinical features associated with white matter disease that need to be evaluated thoroughly. However, it is sad to say that there is no permanent cure but conservative treatment & physiotherapy exercises that would help you to regain your normal function and stopping the further progression of the disease.
