Hello I am a 20 yr old female who has been experiencing head pain, headaches that are constant all started about 6 weeks ago but there still present and anoying. I went to my family doctor he checked me out and told me that I needed to go in for a CT scan. So when I was at the hospital they told me nothing until I saw my family doctor for the results. He told me and showed me the scans and told me theres swelling and fluid/water in my ventricles in my brain. I am now going for a MRI outta town. Should I be worried? is there anything I can be prepaired for?? my mri is on the 14th of march 2009 ... can you give me something thanks

Hi,

The presence of fluid and water in the brain indicates hydrocephalus which causes raised intracranial pressure and subsequent headaches.
It is important to identify the exact cause for this like tumors, hemorrhage, infections and congenital malformations. MRI will thus be helpful in making the diagnosis.
Good luck and keep us posted.
