MRI scan impression

Hi:

My 3-year-old, premature daughter who has a squint since birth had a MRI scan to rule out any brain abnormalities.  She had the following impression on her MRI scan:

The report read "cyst formation".  deep white matter changes around the periventricular region"

Final Impression:  Bilateral medial and occipital chronic changes with deep white matter changes and volume loss.

Is this serious.

Thanks a lot.

the doctor said the baby was getting the cord curled around her neck (actually not sure the doctor meant medically) this is something i vaguely remember, and had to do a C-section immediately.

Hello.

Have they mentioned the region where the cyst is formed? These changes on the MRI suggest injury during or around the time of birth. By 'injury', I mean lack of blood supply.

It could depend upon the cause of the premature birth.

Can you mention here why she was born premature?

Regards
