MRI scan shows metabolic issue

My child has undergone an MRI scan and the consultant said it was a metabolic problem the damage is in the putamen of the basal ganglia. My child also has Dystonia in her right hand and leg, She has undergone genetic testing and mitrochondrial testing and all blood results are negative? Could this damage be due to a traumatic birth? baby had failing heartbeat. My consultant thinks not? can you tell a metabolic disease just from a MRI scan? Could this damage be Cerebral Palsy or HIE? She also is slightly delayed and has had feeding problems although she is getting there now, she is 3 1/2. She also gets oral thrush quite a lot too, so has had immune system tests and all are clear as well. Nobody knows what is wrong with my child?
