: I have been diagnosed with MS for 3 years.  Along with all the other problems, I have a pronounced limp and am wondering why.

What have your doctors told you regarding your limp? Did it come on after
an event?, do you have pain? There are many causes of limping, some orthopedic
and some neurologic.  From a neurologic standpoint it could be secondary to
either central or peripheral problems. Central demyelinating lesions can
effect motor pathways leading to weakness. You can also present with spinal cord demyelinating
lesions (transverse myelitis) that could cause motor weakness and lead to
a limp. Maybe a peripheral lesion is involved? The best bet is to dicuss
this with your doctor so that you may come up with a treatment plan to
improve your fuction. Good Luck.
