MS demographics

The geographical effect of developing effect is well known but unfortunatelly we have to keep a log when we ask for help to the government.  Yes, MS is more common in northern lattitudes and we do not know exactly why.  I need to find the information.  There is no known effect of weather but in order to impress the officials we need the data.  Yes, hot weather can make symptoms worse.

This discussion is related to Multiple sclerosis -vs- where you live.

Hi
Heat can transiently increase symptoms, which is known as Uhthoff's phenomenon.
Uhthoff's phenomenon is the worsening of neurologic symptoms in multiple sclerosis after periods of exercise and increased body heat. Many patients with MS experience increased fatigue and other symptoms related to MS when exposed to heat. As a result, many patients with MS avoid saunas, warm baths, and other sources of heat.
