I have had 2 mri's that look like MS. They were 6 mos. apart with no change in mri. I do have more than 20 lesions,
& reports indicate some kind of demylinating disease. I have a bunch of symptoms that are all part of MS. I recent-
ly had a spinal tap which was negative for MS. My neurologist told me that I don't have MS. He said that I have
migraines even though I told him that my headaches are with just mild pain. Could it be that I do have MS but it's
just in remission. I truly don't believe that I have migraines. I would appreciate some feedback.
Thank you!
Roni
I haven't seen my neurologist for more than a few months and I'm new to neurology. So, I haven't had an MRI done yet. BUT, I can tell you that you can have migraines without feeling a headache or feeling much of a headache at all. When I described my symptoms to the neurologist, he told me that I was describing auras. I didn't know they were auras, because I had always been told that auras were flashes of light. I don't experience flashes of light at all.
Yes, you can experience migraines without realizing it.
Thanks for your response! What are your sympotoms? I was just wondering. Most
of my headaches are very mild, & the painfulPainful menstrual periods ones are not very painfulPainful menstrual periods, more annoying.
I think I get tension, sinus, & sleep deprivation headaches. Aside from the headache,
I don't get any other symptoms during or prior or after. Thanks again. Roni

A "negative" spinal tap does not rule out MS or other diseases. An abnormal autoimmune response in CSF is found in a number of other diseases, so the test is not specific for MS. Conversely, some 5%-10% of people with MS never show these CSF abnormalities. Therefore, analysis of the CSF by itself cannot confirm or rule out a diagnosis of MS. It must be part of the total clinical picture that takes into account other diagnostic procedures such as magnetic resonance imaging. As you have symptoms and MRI saying that it is a demyelinating disease , it is most probably MS . Hope this helps you . Take care and regards !
