MS or not

Hi, I had an attack in July 2007 when my whole left side went numb.  I got most of the feeling back except my foot sometimes goes numb.  I  had a MRI done and it showed some inflamation (inflammation).  The neurologist said it was CIS, Clinically Isolated Syndome.  This was not MS until I have another attack.   Meanwhile, I have got terrible symptoms. The neuro put me on avonex, the needle for 3 months and I was so sick I thought I was dying.  I am off it now and I am not taking anything for MS.   The symptoms I am having is pain, pain and pain.   My whole body aches and I cannot walk very well.  I get tired alot and I am gaining alot of weight.  If anyone has had the same kind of experience please help me understand this.  I wanted a second opinion so I am seeing a MS specialist in a month.  So, anyone out there with answers I would so much appreciate therm, thanks Maggie

Hi Maggie, I have MS.  You are doing the right thing in seeing an MS specialist.  Good for you.  I take Avonex successfully, but I know many are unable to.  There are other good drugs available.  Please post on the Multiple Sclerosis Forum.  There are absolutely wonderful people there who can help you more than I.   There is a retired doctor, Quix, who is very knowlegable and wonderful to explain and support you on this forum.  There are also many other caring MSers and many others who are in "limbo" waiting for a diagnosis.  They will be very good at helping you know what to expect and what to ask your doctor.  Please don't hesitate to post there.
