I am being worked up for MS.  My MRI results showed a few lesions in my cervicle spine.  My lumbar puncture was positive for oligoclonal banding.  I haven't had the visual provoked potential yet but without that test can I be diagnosed with MS?  My symptoms are- right leg weakness, tingling, hyperreflexia.  All my lab tests are negative for any other diseases.

Hi . I am a 37 year old female with a lot of health things going on. I would like to start out with the fact that at the age of two years old I had full body spazam and end up have NO feeling in my legs for 6 hours . Then it can back . They found something wrong with my kidneys my kidneys where having spams and they needed to make it stop . and did some type from repair. After that I have a life of kidney and blatter injections almost non stop. I was in able to see well. When I played sports I would often pee on my self if I ran the bases.  As I got into Jr high I started being dizzy a lot! And passing out. They said growning pains on my legs. I craved salt like it was a drug ! I would black out 3 to 8 times a day! I had tingling in hands and up to elbows every day and still do. And in toes and feet . Some times I wet the bed because I could'nt feel my lower body .  Always low on iron . Then as I grew up I got every sickness every one around me had and it would take weeks something's months for me to get better. In my 20's I passed out or blacked out often . I stay sick . Pneumonia and ear infection . Tonsils out at 26years old.  Because they were so infection . I have a tummy full  of ulcers and don't use the bath room on a reg. Basis . I am losing feeling in my hands just typing this. I am feed up with doctors treating the synonyms !!!with no the big picture! I was told by a nerolgictst that I have a autonomic nervous system dysfunction . And by a kidney doctor that I  and my brother have gitlmans diseases . Because of kidney testing . I have to be put into the hospital every few months and get a 7 hour bag of potassium bc my levels are at critical . 2.1 or 2.3.  They get me up to 3.0 and send me home. They say I spill all kinda of stuff I shouldn't in my pee. I have body aches like I got hit by a car. I have been sick  8 weeks at this point today. Started with flu. Then to bronctius . Then to bad kidney injection . Then Bacterial infection in my tummy . All of this three rounds on antibiotics and a shot and a shot of steroids . Now my mouth and tongue and cover In painful ulcers . I am very fit. I run and work out . I eat heathy . I don't drink or smoke . I am under normal lbs for my length but not a lot. My hand just went 100 % number  typing . My doctor said my throat was almost being crushed and torn my esophagus . So that hurts all the time. Hurts to talk. And I just don't look heathy . I am so sick of being sick . From what I have read, MS can be diagnosed with just MRI and clinical symptoms.  I had VEP's done.  Mine was normal.

great to hear from you...!

IMO,,,,you HERXED!
Congratulations! It really should be a confirmation that this bacteria is deep within your tissues! As for your dislocating your shoulder and if that has anything to do with your new treatment plan? good question for your doctor!

have you posted your update on lymenet? There are sooo many better knowledgeable folks there that can share their stories....One big thing I can tell you is this- when the abx first makes you feel lousy ( for a few days or even hours) but then it subsides and you feel better -or that symptom feels better- that is Exactly what a herxheimer reaction Should feel like. Lousy than better! you are killing the buggers....make sure to take a good probiotic, and please do de-tox. Detoxing will help get the bad guys out of your system...Chlorella is a great way to de-tox along with taking Charcoal -but take charcoal away form abx, vits, and food. Charcoal will surround all the toxins bind to them and sweep them out of your system. I take charcoal at night.

So glad to hear you're on your way Patsy. so much to understand about this disease. hang in there..... :)

the very best,
tory

Hi again,

good luck with your VEP test I hope you get more answers. to answer your question, Im really not sure about the exacts. I to asked if there was anyway it could be something else, and I was told that with my mri results, history, and clinical exam, it was a definite dx. of ms. he told me that not everyone early in the disease shows a positive spinal tap. God I hope one day they tell me they made a mistake, as long as what ever it is has a cure or is treatable. good luck to you!

I just wanted to update you.  I started Biaxin a couple weeks ago.  Two days after I started it I felt horrible!!...nauseated, stomach pain, muscle pain like I've never had before.  It was my whole left leg, right thigh and other areas.  I was exhausted.  I'm usually not that fatigued.  My twitching increased significantly.  The real bad symptoms lasted just over a week.  They've quieted down a bit.  Then, one day I got out of the shower, put a towel on my head and dislocated my right shoulder!   What do you think???

It's frustrating finding out what's wrong..hang in there.

I too have MS with lesions in my brain and spinal cord. After dealing with the disease for years, I began learning about the similarities between MS/Lyme disease.

What struck me the most is that Lyme disease can cause lesions too..in both the brain and spinal cord. So, I found that my MS is really a bacteria caused by borrelia. I am now treating the "cause" of my MS and feeling better!

You mentioned being tested for other diseases. When it comes to Lyme testing if you had an ELSIA done it only has a 65% reliability factor. Most lyme goes undetected. If you're interested in "really" ruling out lyme disease consider getting tested through IgeneX in Palo Alto California. They test for all the bands..the CDC's criteria states 5 bands must be positive on the IgG and 3 bands must be positive on the IgM...to have a "Positive" test result.
I tested Negative...but have 3+ very "lyme specific" bands that are Positive!
So, I was clinically diagnosed! It makes sense that if we have just "one band" that is lyme specific -----why would the medical community rule out LYME? We need better testing!

Very hard to understand I know...but the testing for Lyme isn't reliable. We need to become our own advocates, get educated and begin the healing process. Finding a doctor who is educated in Lyme is important. So many of us are not correctly diagnosed when it comes to lyme.

I wish you well and good luck with your health,
tory
