MY aged 34 brother's MRI report

The study reveals kyphoscoliosis in cevico dorsal region. There are post operative changes in the CV junction area. There is occpetalisation of C1 basiller invagination. The size, shape, alignmentand signal intensity pattern of the remaining vertbrae appear normal. there is no pre or para vertibral or any spidural collection. There is no evidence of any active infective pathology.

There is evidence of mild tonsillar herniation upto level of mid C2 vertebral level.There is associated syrinx from C2 to D12 vertibral level. there is resultant loss of cord parenchyma. The syrinx is more prominant from C4 to D5 There is thining of the cord parenchyma in the upper cervical cord as well. The cord termination is at L2.no definite tethering.
There is no significant herniation at any level. no significant intra or extradural mass.There are focal areas of hypertrophied ligamentum flavum at D7- 8 and D11- 12.
There is no primary canal stenosis. CSF shows normal signal.
pls give me suggestions to solve this serious problem

The MRI findings suggest chiari malformation and syrinx in the spinal cord. The syrinx is extending all the way up to D12 level and there is considerable damage to the spinal cord. I would suggest you to seek help from a neurologist at your earliest. It is important that your brother undergoes surgery to prevent further damage to the spinal cord.
