Magnets for Neuropathy

When I go to bed and experience strong hand and/or foot pain from peripheral neuropathy, the only help sometimes is magnetic insoles inside socks on my feet and (yes!) hands.  I know that the recent studies say that magnets do not help arthritis, but they sure help my neuropathy so that I can sleep!

I also discovered that my pain lessened when I took my socks off!  The 23-year-old foot pain was from my back at L4-5, where I had surgery last July.  3/4 of my pain is gone!  I thank God that he used my pain doctors and my surgeon after all those years!

The issue of magnets is terribly complicated.

The commonly sold magnets are useless. The fields are not strong enough.

A lot depends upon the polarity.

The store-and-internet variety work because of the power of suggestion.

Magnetic therapy is potentially very dangerous, especially so-called "magnetic mattress pads". These "side-effects" include producing malignancies.  As far as people talking about "benefits" many people believe sacrifices to the Sun God also produce beneficial results. Other people swear by bat's blood.

That is not to say that under very carefully controlled conditions magnetic fields can produce positive effects.

It is irresponsible to recommend the use of magnetic aids to cure anything.
