Managing cramp fasciculation

by wowbagger53, Oct 17, 2007 08:47AM
I've been diagnosed with cramp fasciculation syndrome and the only suggestion the neurologist made for managing the symptoms is to take quinine for the cramp. I am reluctant to take this long term and in any case it does not seem to be helping that much. It does not help at all with the random muscle pains and what I can only describe as partial cramps. The twitching does not bother me at all.

I like to run, but I am finding it increasingly difficult to do so. I have tried magnesium supplements, to no avail. The problem seems to be getting worse, rather than better, and I often find myself suffering from muscle soreness, of the kind that often follows exercise, without actually having done anything.

Is there any recommendation of something else to try?

Try calcium.  Your muscles need it just like your bones.  It certainly did ease my problem with leg cramps and what some call a charlyhorse (sp?).  I was getting severe cramps when I first laid down.  They were agonizing.  Calcium seems to help a lot.
