Median/Ulnar Nerve Surgery

Hello,
I am the guitar player who has posted here before.  Thank you for continuing to take the time to read and respond to my posts.  I just had one general question for you.  I have recently had my EMG and it has shown compression to both my median nerve at the carpal tunnel and my ulnar nerve at the elbow.  I have been in PT for 3+ months which has helped a little but not much.  My doctor now has me on a prescription strength anti-inflammatory medication (Daypro) which also seems to be getting minimal results.  It is looking as though surgery may be the only option and I just wanted to ask you for some general info on the Carpal Tunnel release and Ulnar Nerve Transposition operations.  How intense are these operations?  Can they be performed while the patient is awake?  What is the average recovery time after these operations have taken place?  Any general info. on these surgeries you could provide would be greatly appreciated!  Thanks again!
Dave
