Memory Lapse

Memory Lapse

I am only 52 and having memory issues during my workday.  Yesterday and today I have had times I have gotten things turned around and forgot completely what I was supposed to be doing.  I have a routine that doesn't vary too much each day, but am a school teacher and on rainy days the schedule fluctuates some and on 2:00 days my daily schedule changes some....Most days are same routine though.  I had some teachers, (because I was 8 minutes late to a group of kids )(I go into many classrooms and work with a little group within each classroom for 30 minutes each)
Who thought something is wrong with me.  I just went through menopause last year in an abrupt halt of 3 periods last year and 0 this year.  Could this be menopause?  My dad had alzheimers.  Could it be that already?  What else could it be?  Any info. appreciated.  KW

I was Diagnosed with COPD (never smoked a cigarette in my life)  had pnemonia (pneumonia) 3 times though and bronchitis many a time, also diagnosed with high blood pressure, high cholestral, Acid reflux, and jaw clenching syndrome....I am low on vit. D, Magnesium, and potassium, all in which I am taking meds or suppliments. Had many various symptoms of aching joints and muscles, and have been diagnosed as having deteriorating spine disease.  Would any of these have anything to do with memory problems???   KM

I'm not a physician, but I can offer a few ideas.  Since you have a pulmonary disease and high blood pressure and high cholesterol, it's possible your brain is not getting enough oxygen, so you're getting drifty.  Could be you need to have a little oxygen mask to sleep with and that might help.  An internal medicine doc should review your whole health picture and decide what to do.
