Memory proble,

I am suffering from the problem of forgetting things. Mostly I forget the place where I kept my items like my camera, pen, shocks, keys(normal things). There was a time when I was searching for the key in the entire house while it was in my pocket all the time with me. I am just getting crazy some times. I don't know what's going on. I am a high school student and it is affecting my studies too. I can't remember the things I read for long. Can some body help me figure out what's going on? How can I remember the things like keys, camera, etc.

Hi there. You have short term memory loss and you are young. The causes for this loss of memory could be many like lack of sleep, hurried up routine, psychogenic memory loss after a stressful and life threatening event, vitamin B1 deficiency, certain drug abuse like PCP, LSD and cocaine. Some prescription drugs can also be the culprit like barbiturates, tricyclic anti depressants etc. brain infections like encephalitis and head trauma are other rare causes.  Get a proper sleep routine, avoid all stress, take vitamin supplements, get rid of any drugs if you are taking and consult a psychiatrist.
Try and focus on the objects and their details. Remember to place the daily use objects in the same place every time. Concentrate on the minute details and don’t clutter your mind.
Hope this helps. Take care.

You're just tired and probably not eating exactly right.  Also, getting enough water every day isn't easy.  Most people do forget stuff like keys ALL the time.  So, ever since I have lived away from family, I put my keys in the same place.  When I used to carry a camera, tht's where it went, too.  But now, socks and pens, hon, one time I thought there must be a planet called "Lost," where all the socks and pens went.  Even comedian Jerry Seinfeld did a standup routine about socks trying to escape from dryers.

For your studies, this is most definitely a problem of too little sleep and too much rushing around and stress.  Whenever I have to do something hard, like studying, I do it when I feel the best, which for me is first thing in the morning.  But since you're in high school, best time is usually directly after you come home from school, do your homework right then and there, after a little snack.  If you go to college, after last class, go straight to the library and do it all right there.  But sleep is the key to being alert enough to get thru homework quickly.  Fun can wait until weekends, unless a big paper or term exams are coming up.
