Meningitis Encephalitis

by JustWantFair, Aug 20, 2009 12:51PM
My ex-husband was diagnosed with Spinal Meningitis-Encephalitis in 2002.  He was in a coma for approximately three weeks during which we were informed that he had suffered brain stem damage.  Since then he has been on 100% disability from the Veteran's Association for a Cognative Impairment.  We have since seperated due to some of the effects that his 'recovery' had on our children, I no longer have any information or ability to find out about his current mental status, but lately there has been great cause for concern about the after effects this has had on him mental capabilities and ability to care for minor children.

Is there any research that I can use to help discuss/understand the complications of encephalitis and the effect of a 'recovery' from the illness?
