Meralgie Paraesthetica, link to back problems?

Hi, I have had  back pain for many years, after heavy lifting in' 81. Had laminectomy in '83, and L5-S1 fusion in '84. Have never been free of back pain, and occasional leg pain. Four years ago, developed, tingling, burning, and icy cold sensations inboth lower legs. At the same time I developed, numbness in my left thigh, which got worse on walking and on standing, as did my back pain. I was seen by spinal neurologist, after having MRI, which showed up nothing abnormal, however normal x-ray showed fusion which was bone from my pelvis had carried on growing and making new bone, upwards. Was then referred to ortho surgeon, who thought it could be strange symptoms of MS, and referred me to neurologist, who did nerve conduction study. He diagnosed Meralgia paraesthetica, worse in left thigh, but also in right thigh, and suggested injections may help. Having spent most of the previous year having, trigger point injections, botox in spinal muscles, nerve blocks, and several epidurals, to no avail, I felt very loth to start the procedures all over again. However, over the last two to three years, the thigh pain has got much worse, on both sides. My walking ability has deteriorated due to the intense numbness and stabbing pains in both thighs, and awful burning, tingling, and icy cold sensations, in my legs from the knee down. The back pain, thigh pain and lower leg pain, all seem to be tied in together. All worsen at the same time.Don't want to disagree with neurologist, but am going back to pain clinic this week, and am worried, injections into groin for MP, which I am going to discuss with consultant, may not help, have researched this a lot online, and fear thigh pain may originate from back, not inguinal nerve. Is this possible? Thigh pain goes on sitting, but back pain is worse, only releif is lying down, which eases back pain, and thigh pain, but not lower leg painful sensations. I have in past taken, pregabalin, gabapentin, carbamazapine, which have not helped, My life at the moment, is very restricted, with constant pain, I find this difficult to convey to doctors. I would be gratefull for any thoughts or information you could give. Thanks in advance.
