Migraine & nausea

My daughter of 13 has had a "migraine" for 3 days - not alleviated by Tylenol or Excedrin.
In conjunction with nausea, spots, and neck is sore when she puts her head down.

Any ideas?

Thanks for using the forum. I am happy to address your questions, and my answer will be based on the information you provided here. Please make sure you recognize that this forum is for educational purposes only, and it does not substitute for a formal office visit with your doctor.

Without the ability to examine you and obtain a history, I can't give you a definitive diagnosis.  That said, if you daughter has had a fever during this headache, if this headache is dramatically different from her usual migraines, if she's had some confusion, difficulty thinking clearly, or become very sleepy, if she's had a seizure, if she's had weakness anywhere, or has been in contact with someone with meningitis, she should go the emergency room emergently.  If, however, this headache isn't all that different from her usual migraines except that it's lasted longer, this is likely less to be worried about and likely not emergent.  However, if the headache is particularly bad, she could go to her GP or the ED to get a type of abortive medication that is a little more effective than the over-the-counter meds she's received.  I hope this is helpful.
