Mollarets Meningitis

Hi, I have had four attacks of viral meningitis in the last two years, and was desperate to find out what was wrong with me. I have struggled after the second attack as I am still not back to normal and had a few more attacks since. Apart from the meningitis symptoms I have suffered terrible coldsores on my mouth and face, either before or after each attack. Leaving me still so fatigued, and when I do too much I end up ill again. (yet I am slowly very slowly improving my strength) but you have no idea I do not know when I have done too much. This is soooo frustrating as I was so fit before all of this but determined not to give in. I have only just been recently diagnosed this type of meningitis, so do not know or can find enough about it. Any help or advice you can give me would greatly be appriciated in helping me overcome this????

There isn't a lot out there about it- I've had menegitis 16 times since 1982 and just got diagnosed with Mollaret's myself. They have found a link between Mollaret's and a herpes virus which would explain your cold sores. They said that most people carry a herpes virus with them but never know it or show signs of it- I guess we're just the lucky ones. I don't get the cold sores but have found that it's when I get REALLY stressed that I develop the symptoms that leave me in bed for a week or so at least. I haven't found a way to prevent it- I've just learned how to deal with it which is just lots of rest, and yes, is frustrating.
