Mollerett's Meningitis

In February of 2007 I was hospitalized with bacterial meningitis. This year alone I have had four bouts of viral meningitis all occuring every month. My neurologist finally diagnosed me (through many spinal taps and MRI's) with Mollerett's meningitis. He said it is rare and there is no treatment. Does anyone know where I can get more information about this. I am emotionally and physically worn down and need help.

To my knowledge, this specific type of meningitis is linked to HSV-2 and is very treatable with anti-viral meds specifically designed to supress herpes. The most common is aciclovir. If your doctor specifically used the term "Mollerett's" and then said it was untreatable, you may want to seek out other opinions. You also said you had bacterial and then viral, which are quite different and unrelated. Did you state this simply to point out the coincidence?

Hi I have Mollaret's Meningitis too, I am now on aciclovir and my Neurologist has every faith that this medication will work, I may be on it for a long time or life, which is nothing compared with the awful suffering Mollaret's brings.  Yes, its shattering and leaves you exhausted as you do not get time to get over each attack. I felt drunk a lot of the time, especially if I did too much (which wasnt for ordinary folk). This is due to extreme fatique which comes with the meningitis.
I know your post is old but I pray you are being treated by now with this drug to help you.
Take care
