Mrs s Smith re granddaughter aged 13
Granddaughter two very acute episodes,  walking on toes, lumbar lordosis CK 450 down to 195 during first episode. Has muscle pains calves, hamstrings.  Each episode last approx 5 months.  Had MRI calves.  Discharged from first episode with weakened ankle muscles, never fully recovered Rheumatologist was very indifferent, now seeing paediatrician who is discussing case with neurologist.  Awaiting MRI spine.  At present I am paying for weekly physio. Very concerned re the whole situation and indifference of consultant and her gp.

Well, without a detailed description of the symptoms/ relevant clinical details or a detailed clinical evaluation it would be difficult to comment specifically on the situation. Assuming this to be a case of muscular dystrophy, the expected prognosis may depend on the type, severity of involvement etc. It would be best to discuss the situation, the suggested management plan and the expected prognosis in detail with her treating neurologist.
