Mucsle Spasm

I woke up this morning with a muscle spasm in my leg - just wondering if I should be concerned, and what they are caused by.  This has been going on for about 4 hours now

A muscle cramp or spasm can be due to over excercising, or electrolyte abnormalities. Therefore if it is a single isolated event and you were dehydrated or excerised to much, I would not worry about it. However, if it happens again, then I would recommend you see your physician. Good luck.

I dont know if this will be any help, but i had a muscle spasm in my neck that lasted for days, i went to the doctors and was told to keep a hot water bottle on the muscle because it relaxes the muscle, it really helped, made the pain go away within hours.
