Multiple brain lesions

I am 43 years old and have recently had an MRI without contrast that showed 15 Flair T2 hyperintensities in the frontoparietal subcortical part of my brain.  The internal specialist and my GP both suspect MS, and I am waiting to see a neurologist  in 4 months.  I have been experiencing dizziness, coginitve fog, extreme fatigue, chest pains and numbness, extreme cold and tingling in my right arm and hand.  It seems to be adding up to MS.  I am currently taking synthroid .137 for my hypothyroidism and there were no concerns in the MRI suggesting any tumors, pituitary gland problems etc.  The report stated the lesions could be due to microangiopathic ischemic damage and, or nonspecific gliosis.  It stated nonspecific signal changes are noted in the supratentorial subcortical white matter.  As I was in shock when I got the results, I did not ask any questions.  Can u please tell me more about what this means and what other conditions could cause these lesions...I was prescribed phenobarbital as a child until I was 16 because they thought I was epileptic..turns out I was not...otherwise, no other medications or head injuries to speak of.  Thanks.
