Muscle Stiffness

My daughter has been complaining that her muscles stiffin up, mainly in her legs.  She said once she warms up she is ok for awhile then it happens again.  She has complained on and off for about 10 years.  The doctors have run blood work and I took her to a neurologist.   They tested her for ANA, rhumatory arthritis, etc.  She doesn't have any pain.   She also says when she tightens up her muscles it takes awhile for them to untighten.   Noone has been able to find what it wrong.  Its been awhile since she saw a nuerologist and I dont know what kind of Dr to take her to next.  I heard there was a muscular neurologist.  Should I start there.  Should I have a hair analysis done to see if she is lacking in a vitamin?  I would appreciate any help and direction in this.  Thank You

Your daughter and I have some of the same symptoms.  My legs also stiffen up to the point that I can not walk...sudden surprises will cause them to freeze up as well.  I usually fall if that happens because they are so stiff.  Sleeping or sitting they are fine but once I stand from a sitting position, I can hardly get them to move unless someone is there to help me.  Going downstairs is bad.  My neurologists can not diagnose me...the closest he can get is stiffpersons syndrome (SPS).  I also have T1 diabetes, PErnicious anemia and my thyroid has been removed...all they say are usually present with this disease.  My doctor checked me for MS, MD, MC and other things which he said was all negative so he started me on Baclofen just to try and calm the symptoms.  It did not work at all.  Next he gave me valium which started working in 15 minutes!!!!  It's been great.  Even though I don't know what I have at least I can walk!!!!  Hope this helps you somehow.  Good Luck!
