Muscle cramps

My MG diagnosed 20 years ago has been mainly ocular, but I do experience muscle faigue.  Strangel;y, I can brisk walk for long periods without getting tired, but cannot use exercise bike.
Lately have experience muscle cramping in calf and waist area.  Is there a connection to MG?
I take Mestinon 60 X 3 times a day.

Thank you for your question. Although without being able to examine you I can not offer you the specific advice on diagnosis and treatment that you need, but I would try to provide you some relevant information about your health concern.

The most common symptom of Myasthenia Gravis is progressive muscle weakness that gets worse with your exercises & activities. That’s why you may feel well in the morning, but as the day goes on or you start activities you may fell tired. In many patients, rest improves the muscle strength so the condition. In addition, muscle atrophy (shrinking) may appear in some patients with severe weakness if they have MG for many years. Although MG does not cause any muscle cramping, but Mestinon (Pyridostigmine) that is usually prescribed to treat the symptoms may be associated with muscle spasms, twitching of the muscles, and cramps. If you suffer continuous cramps and muscle weakness, please arrange an appointment with a neurologist right away who will evaluate the possibilities here and can provide you an appropriate treatment. Hope this information proves helpful to you.

Take Care & Regards!!!
