Muscle twitching

I started having muscle twitches all over my body.  This started three months after I was given oarl sex.  Two weeks after that night I had a small dry rash like spot on my penis, then a small cut.  My doctor tested me for all STD's and the tests were negative.  I went to a dermotologist and he said it was just a cut.  My doctor thinks it is simply stress so I am taking 100 mg of Zoloft one month now and still muscle twitches.  Someone said it could be a yeast infection.  Have you heard of an infectious muscle twitching disease that is contagous?
I am stressed out over this. What is it and what will make it go away.

I have a comment directed towards the first entry "tarpon" about muscle twitches and the dry penis.  I have had the same exact symtoms for about 3-4 months, that are quite identical to what you are describing.  I get sometimes, muscle twiches in my legs, feet, back, sometimes in my face too, around my eye.  And then sometimes I get cramps right on my side, left and right, under the ribs.  The cramps usualling come from sitting to long working, or walking for a long period of time.  However, the dry skin, and rashes is strange to me.  I have always had healthy skin, however, this past year it feels like it's dry, like it is winter all year round.  My penis has been dry and cuts have appeared as well.  Someone once told me that it could be a yeast infection, but I'm not sure how I would get that diagnosed.  I have also been to a STD clinic, and everything came out negative.  I was worried, but not so worried, due that I'm not that sexually active, but have been in the past.  I also read someone's response upon these symptoms, and listed a few other symtoms as well, such as, fatigue, memory loss, headache, nausea, diarrea, sudden outbursts ( I don't have a temper of anykind), rash, burning penis, and personality changes.  I know this sounds crazy, but I live with these symptoms everyday and still maintain sanity, but HELP!   Doctors have told me that I might have an anxiety disorder, however, I'm not so sure, anxiety would cause all of this at once, in fact, I think most of my anxiety comes from these syptoms. Is there something else that might be going on?  How would I be able to tell if I might have a yeast infection.  If there is anything that anyone has found out about these symptoms, please let me know, either on here, or through my contact info.  Thanks..

I am not aware of an infection which would only produce diffuse muscle twitching without any other symptoms. The muscle twitches may be secondary to benign fasciculation syndrome or possibly a electrolyte imbalance. Stress and excessive excercise can also cause muscle twitching. You should discuss this with your doctor, and if there are any concerns then see a neurologist. Good luck.

Do you have other symptoms?  Like fatigue?  Rashes & muscle twitching are ways a person's body responds to too much of a chemical exposure of some kind.  So maybe there is not connection.  Is there something else that has happened differently when the muscle twitching started?

Did you get headaches, sore throat (but without fever), start coughing a lot ... things like that?

On the other hand, there is such a thing as second hand solvent exposure: solvents can be expelled from one's breath. i.e. the 'gulf war syndrome' vets and many people in our general population, too.  Usually it is from getting vapors of the ethylene glycol monobutyl ether chemicals in one's eyes; but breath to breath & as you suggest, as well(?) Do you recall your eyes burning and hurting, then flu-like symptoms and feeling oh so tired?

Fatigue from exposure to this chemical shows up differently, and a couple of small add on blood tests will show it up.  Although unless you have other odd symptoms such as with CFS (aching joints, short term, memory loss, depression, 'fly off the handle over nothing' personality changes ... etc; endocrine disruption) don't worry about it.  It wouldn't be this chemical family.

Ask your doctor to order a Reticulocyte Count and ask for comment on the size and shape of the red blood cells. ... AND  the Complete Blood Counts with differential (the combined tests are around $70 in our area) The headaches and neurological effects of this chemical SCREAM LOUDER but the provable harm is the fatigue caused by prematurely destroyed red blood cells.
