My 19 month old girls MRI came back VERY BAD and I need help understanding

My daughter had an MRI come back with the following comments - I really need any help that is available so anything would be greatly appreciated.

-abnormal T2 prolongation involving the white matter
-Foci of abnormal T2 prolongation in the peritrigonal region - to a lessor degree in the deep frontal white matter.
-involvement of the external capsules bilaterally.
-There is additional involvement of superficial white matter (subcortical U fibers)predominantly within the frontal lobes
-No definate abnormal signal is seen within the deep gray nuclei
-Very questionable T2 shortening is seen within the thalami
-No evidence of mass effect, restricted diffusion, pathological parenchymal oe meningeal enhancement
-ventricular system cisterns normal
-major vascular flow voids normal
-paranasal sinuses are well aerated
-brainstem normal
-involvement, however, is somewhat diffuse, symmetric

I've been told my baby may die soon and have also been told not to worry    WHAT DOES ANY OF THIS MEAN---PLEASE HELP ME

I'm so sorry I don't know the exact significance of your daughter's MRI.  The report indicates very extensive damage occurring or having occurred in the white matter of the brain.  The white matter is that part responsible for sending the proper signals to the rest of the brain and to the body.

I don't know who could be giving you such differing interpretations.  Try to listen to the physicians who would really know something, such as the child neurologist.  Who is taking care of your daughter and what are they telling you?

Why was the MRI done?  Quix
