My Optic Neuritis

by jmmuller1, Feb 13, 2009 06:51PM
I recently went to an Opthalmologist because i was experiencing bad eye pressure, weird tingling in my head, and eye blurriness.  The dr said that I had bilateral optic neuritis and told me that i need an mri....

I went and got an mri and everything came back ok.  They were worried about the possibility of MS.

I have gone through sooo many tests, blood work, Lumbar Puncture and all the tests came back ok.  No one can tell me what is causing the Bilateral optic neuritis.  It is very painful and very frustrating.

Is there any way that sinuses and allergies could be causing the optic neuritis?  I'm just trying to find anything out.  I was told i need to see a Opthalneurologist, but have not gotten an appointment yet.  Does anyone know what could be causes the Optic Neuritis. Since all the testing has come back ok?

I was diagnosed with MS because one of my symptoms was optic neuritis.  It took several tests before they found it by the spinal tap.  I went to 2-3 doctors before they found it.  I have since then went to 3 more doctors to get a second opinion to confirm I have MS.  At first it seems frustrating trying to find out what's wrong, but don't give up.

thanks for responding!

Part of me just thinks, what if it is MS but all the tests are ok.  The spinal tap was fine, as well as the MRI, and i have gone to many doctors.  What other testing is necessary to confirm MS?  I do not want to give up, but part of me is very frustrated and tired.  No one can tell me the other causes of optic neuritis or how to treat it....
