My mother (age : 63 Yrs) suffering from continuous headache with neck pain. C.T. Scan done in Brain on 07-Feb-12:. The report says Cerebeller folia are prominent. Focal hypodensities are noted at bilateral peri-ventriclar region. Impression of the report : Bilateral frontal peri-ventricular ischaemic changes. Cerebellar atrophy. Left paraventricular region tiny focal (Post CVA) atrogliosis. Would you pls advice how she can get rid of her headache ? She is forgetful in nature. Does this aggravate / cause memory loss for her ? She is now advised to take DESVAL ER 250 mg after lunch and Sibellium 10 mg @ 7 PM every day. She was also advised to take Prodep 20 mg @ 10 AM but discontinued as per doctor's advice due to side effects (severe shivering). Please advice. She is a patient of high blood pressure for past 40 yrs and under medication.
Desval is primarily used to treat epilepsy, like petit mal epilepsy, which is otherwise called as absence seizures. Sibelium is used to prevent migraine headaches. This medication helps to reduce the frequency of attacks. Seizure activity can cause headaches. Was an EEG done? For seizure activity, only an EEG (electroencephalogram) can help confirm this. This is done under the guidance of a neurologist. Please discuss this with your doctor am sure he will provide further assistance.
