My poor baby

My daughter is 5 months old now.  she was diagnosed with erb's palsy after a traumatic birth.  her right arm was paralyzed.  she also had some phrenic nerve damage which parlyzed the right side of her diaphragm and lodged it up into her lung.  when she was 9 weeks she had a diaphragmatic plication and seems to be doing better.  we also have her seeing a physical therapist for her arm which also seems to be doing better.  i just want to know about some other recoveries and see what i may have to look forward too.  also my daughters pediatrition at birth didn't think it was necesary for her to see a neurologist. but the more that i read up on it the more i feel the need to.  do you think it should be something that i should be looking into?

Hi,

Very sorry to hear about what your little one is undergoing.

The treatment of erbs palsy initially is physical therapy. Generally children with mild injuries show signs of improvement with physical therapy.
Regular  follow up appointments to track the child’s progress are very important.

If the child does not show signs of improvement surgery is the only option. It is important that the surgery is done by a very skilled doctor and that the surgery should be done between 3-6 months. If it is done after one year of age it usually does not show good results.
Please keep a track of your child’s progress by regular visits to the doctor. Take care!
