Myesthenia Gravis?

Myesthenia Gravis?

I have felt weak after I exercise for a few years now, but it got worse after my daughter was born in July of 2004. I started to feel very weak after I would pick up my daughter and feel like I was going to fall and sometimes I would. One morning I woke up and had the worst "episode" I have ever had since this all started. I woke up one morning with ptosis in my left eye, bad fatigue and muscle weakness, I felt like I couldn't breathe, talk, walk, and my blood pressure was high from the stress of it all. The doctors I worked with thought I had a stroke and admitted me for one day and the doctor at the hospital told me I had Atypical migraines and sent me home. I started to see a neuro doctor who ran all kinds of tests on me. My acytecholine binding was high and my RF was slightly positive. I had a positive ANA, but negative titer, and my anti-myelin antibodies titers IgG and IgM were positive with elevated titers. My neuro questioned Myesthenia Gravis and put me on Mestinon, but then took me off of it and said he didn't know if that is what was wrong with me. A few weeks ago I started to feel like I was having an asthma attack and went to the doctor. They told me I have asthma and that my peak flow was very low. I have also gone to the ER because I thought I was choking. I felt like I had something stuck in my airways. They ran every test possible and said that there was nothing wrong and referred me to an ENT doctor. He told me that I was having spasms in my throat that was causing this feeling. I have been questioned with MS due to the symptoms and family history of MS. I am convinced that I have Mywesthenia Gravis or MS, but I cannot diagnose myself. Are there any other tests to check for Myesthenia Gravis? How should I ask my new neuro to check for this without sounding demanding? I would appreciate any advice given.

Thanks,
pietiangel

Hello.

Have you done the Tensilon test ? Ask your Neurologist to do the test. This is a good test for MG. And have you been put on any anti-hypertensive medicines ?

I have not done a Tension test. I am not sure what that is really. I was recently put on Prednisone for the breathing problems, but was told I did not need anymore after I was finished with that dose. I am not on anything right now except Levaquin for a sinus infection, that's it though. What types of medication are anti-hypertensive? I have never heard of this before. I see a new neuro doctor in February, but I have to wait until then to find anything out.

Hi.

Anti-hypertensive medicines are taken to reduce the blood pressure. (Hypertentsion=High Blood pressure).

A Tensilon test is done specifically to help diagnose MG.

I do not normally have high blood pressure, just that one time and once during pregnancy. I will ask my new neuro doctor about the Tensilon test. Thanks for the input.
