Myoclonic jerks

Myoclonic jerks

I am a 61 year old man that was taking Neurotin when I started having Myoclonic jerks. I got off the Neurotin but the jerks did not go away.  I end up in emergency after going 5 days without sleeping due to the jerks.  As soon as I relaxed to go to sleep my body would jerk.  Mostly raidiating from my chest area out.  I just could not go to sleep.  Everytime I would relax my body would jerk me back from sleeping.  In emergency the doctor gave me 10 tablets (2 mgs each) of Lorazepam.  After taking the Lorazepam I could sleep.  With in the 10 supply I tried not taking Lorazepam to see if I still had the jerks.  I found that I had to take the Lorazepam or I would get the jerks. The next week I went to see my family doctor see if he could figure out what was going on with me.  He gave me one months supply (2mg) and sent me to a Neurologist.  The neurologist physically examined me and could not find anything that was not right.  He told me it most likely would go away.  He told me to experiment with the dosage to see it the jerks had gone away.  Will the jerking has not gone away and I do not know what I am going to do next.  Am I stuck with taking Lorazepam the rest of life?  Can a neurologist can give me some inside into what my be my next step?  When I have these jerks I do not sleep.  A person can not function without sleep.
