Myoclonus, tremors, foot cramps

Myoclonus, tremors, foot cramps

Hello.

I just started college, but 2 months ago (February 29th, to be exactly) I began to experience "twichings" in my body, muscles that moved without my order, in no particular order, time or position that I was. It wasn't like all the time: perhaps I was lying on my bed and my calf would move, then 10 minutes and my finger would, then 3 hours and my back while I was sitting, etc. I also noticed that whenever I wanted to change the channel in the remote, my fingers would sometimes move ahead of my intentions.

To give you some context of the situation. This was after I had quite a contracture in my chest after doing push-ups. I also had been trying some yoga positions (mainly one called "Cobra", in which, lying on the ground with your face down, you bent your spine up and hold for some time).

I went to a doctor and told me that that was called myoclonus, that was normal in some level but that I had to control the context of the episodes and that in any case I should see a neurologist. During that period, I also oftenly felt like "little baloons" moving under my skin (which I suppose has something to do with my blood rather than this, but if it is of any use knowing it...).

A month ago I went to the neurologist, since this problem continued. The doctor suggested that the only thing that matches my symptoms was Juvenile myoclonic epilepsy (he asked me if I ever had a seizure when I was young: no, never, nor an important head trauma or anything like that). He ordered a EEG and a head MRI, both which turned out normal (no scarfing in the MRI, no sign of important wave dissorder in the EEG). A psychiatrist suggested that this symptoms may have something to do with anxiety about the beggining of my college career. The psychiatrist prescribed me with Clomipramine 25 mg every night (now doubled the dosis to 50 mg a night).

But the symptoms persist. I have the same myoclonus every now and then, although now I have tremors. My hand has a terrible pulse, and it's best seen when I try to do some strength, no matter what part of my body I'm using. And lately I've been having foot cramps, also every now and then (I have to walk like a mile to the school and back, now).

Should I worry, and ask for a second opinion from another neurologist? Or are these things just effects of the nervs and the Clomipramine?

I forgot to mention: my neck "cracks" when I move it too much (like the sound of your knuckles when you crack them). I'd never could do that before, and even if the movement isn't so broad, I can still feel some "bone noise".

If your unsure about what the neurologist says you should see someone else. I have neuropathy and fasculations(twitching) tremors and many other symptoms. At first they put me on prozac, there way of dismissing you. After 5 doctors they did a nerve conduction which was abnormal. I will be going to another neurologist in a month to hopefully find the cause. Sometimes not being believed is worse than being sick. I recommend talking to every doctor till you hear something that makes sense. Good luck

I have exactly the same situation! I have been like this since May 12th 2010. My tests have all come back normal. I am afraid to ask this but could you please tell me how it turned out for you. I have been told that is probably something psychosomatic and the last thing I remember was feeling like I was experiencing an overwhelming allergic reaction. I had chills and what seemed like a nervous breakdown. I have been told that it is not Parkinson's disease, but something insided me tells me it might be...Please answer

I truly hope you are feeling better,
Kevin
